Procedures
On admission, a thorough case history is taken followed by a physical examination that may include a biochemical examination. Stress ECG, Spirometry and, other tests may be performed. All conventional radiography, pathology services and special microscopy are available.
Following the initial consultation and health assessment, the findings are outlined and there is an open discussion to determine the appropriate care and how your goals may be realised. The emphasis is on individual care.
The daily routine involves an examination by the on duty practitioner followed by individual directed activities and our continuous educational program. Patients are free to choose other activities that are consistent with the professional advice.
Under close supervision, the techniques used at the Centre for each individual may include any or all of the following: nutritional assessment and advice. dietary modifications, fasting, rest and the careful use of sunlight. Physical activity is planned and monitored to exert a beneficial effect and avoid overstrain and exhaustion. Psychological factors almost invariably contribute to health problems and prevent the achievement of goals; these are carefully identified and addressed.

A chiropractic and osteopathic analysis may reveal obvious neuromuscular skeletal factors which contribute significantly to the person’s current health problems.
The nutritional and lifestyle programs are designed to meet the specific needs of the individual. These are supported by the unique computerised software designed to organise and assess patient data. Special care is given to identifying and removing the causes of problems associated with obesity, food intolerance, allergies, so-called nutritional deficiencies. etc.
The use of manipulative techniques may be required together with re-education of physical habits of use to restore normal structural integrity and function. Each person’s dietary requirements are assessed and the appropriate food is carefully prepared to meet his/her individual needs. A major priority at the Centre is to provide the very highest quality fresh food available. On discharge, a program of management is provided to meet the person’s individual needs. Follow-up consultations are scheduled so that modifications may be made to the program. The length of stay at the Centre is dependant on many factors and requires a discussion concerning the specific health problems and the patient’s goals. The Arcadia Health Centre is a chiropractic and osteopathic clinic with a dominant lifestyle re-education program. A resident licensed psychologist is on staff.
